Cheap vacations can be hard to come by, but not every holiday needs to break the bank. All it takes is a little extra thought and planning to ensure that you have a cheap, enjoyable holiday. While it is commonly believed that the main landmarks and tourist attractions cannot be seen without handing over unneeded wads of cash, this is very far from the truth. A road trip is the perfect opportunity for all of the major tourist attractions to be seen. Great for families, groups of friends or a couple, a road trip is a fun way to have cheap vacations.
When planning the trip, start by making a list of all the places that you want to go to. From there you can plan your route and choose the places that you might want to stay at. It doesn’t have to be anywhere fancy, especially if you’re only staying for the one night and plan to head off again in the morning. Depending on who you are travelling with, accommodation might be flexible. A couple might choose to drive as far as they feel like, or they might see a place they like and decide to stay the night there. A family on cheap vacations, however, might feel the need to book ahead to ensure they get enough beds for reasonable prices.
Quirky sites, such as Australia’s Big Pineapple or the World’s Largest Rubber Band Ball, are a must for cheap vacations, especially for road trips. They can be seen in between the main tourist attractions and can bring some fun to the trip. Also needed are a few good CD’s or iPod with all your favourite tracks so that you and your fellow travellers can enjoy a good sing along. If your travelling with the kids, make sure you have a mix of your own songs and theirs. Neither party will be happy travelling for hours listening to something they dislike!
